Many of our employees who started with us as an apprentice have continued to develop their career within the company afterwards in permanent roles. You can check out Ruby’s Apprenticeship story further down on this page where she talks about her reasons for choosing this path and where it has led her over the past year.
Keep an eye out on our Vacancies page, where our apprenticeship opportunities will be posted.

Ruby Mae Bretherton / Social Media Creative Assistant / Digital
“I joined Regatta as a ‘Social Media Apprentice’ whilst finishing my ‘Junior Content Producer’ apprenticeship with The Juice Academy. Within this role, I was given the support to learn how to create engaging online content which appeals to specific audiences and in turn drives online sales. On a day-to-day basis, I work closely with colleagues who share their first-hand experience and knowledge with me which gives me the confidence to make informed decisions individually.
At Regatta, I've had the opportunity to develop my passion for design into a career as, following my apprenticeship, I was taken on full-time as a Social Media Creative Assistant. Within this role I am able to use my software and design skills to animate still and moving imagery to bring new collections to life. Starting my role within the business has given me the confidence to believe in my ability and to stand out as a creative.
I decided to go down the route of an apprenticeship as I prefer learning via a more hands on approach and working in a practical environment would give me the learning experience I was looking for. I wanted to experience day to day life within the industry so I was keen to be able to go straight into a normal working routine, something which was possible via an apprenticeship.
The shorter course my apprenticeship offered, compared to a traditional university course, was a huge bonus to me as I felt I was able to get a head start and get my foot in the door of my desired industry before other graduates. All this, combined with the added factor of being able to learn and gain qualifications whilst getting paid and therefore not accruing huge amounts of student debt, meant embarking on an apprenticeship was a no brainer!”
As well as apprenticeship opportunities, some of our Basecamp colleagues started their careers with us on work experience placements. They are a great introduction into the world of work, and give an insight into the roles that exist and how the company works behind the scenes of stores, online, wholesale and logistics. Sunil Singh / Analyst Developer / IT
What is your Regatta Group journey so far?
My Regatta journey started when I was 15. I came to the Regatta Group IT department for work experience, I was only here a week & I instantly felt a part of the team. Chris (IT director) offered me an opportunity to join the team as an apprentice once I left high school and the answer of course had to be yes! Before I knew it I was back here and officially part of the team. I successfully completed my apprenticeship after a year and from that point onwards I've been involved in a number of projects throughout the company this including, creating an application for our colleagues in the call centre to manage online orders, creating documentation for our goods leaving our distribution centre and to most recently being a part of the IT system upgrade project, Panorama. I've now been here for just over 6 years & I've enjoyed every minute of it.
Favourite part of your role?
This probably sounds a bit cliche but definitely the people. Regatta has a very much family based value to it and I guess the support and drive you get from your team is definitely one of the best things about working here. Being rewarded for the work you do is definitely a bonus too. It's nice to come to a place where you spend most of your time and feel appreciated and valued for what you do.
How would you sum up what it is like to work for The Regatta Group?
In one word I would say a family. The Regatta Group is definitely a great place to work. Everyone knows what is required of them, work is focused however there is always something going on and keeping you busy. There have been many examples of this family feel from the summer parties, the company walks, volunteer days, etc. Regatta is a company that will always try to give back to its customers & community and I believe we have a good balance of work and fun here.
What is your most memorable trip/adventure?
The company walks are definitely not something to be missed, a day out of the office and spending it in the 'Great Outdoors'. It's a great way to spend time with colleagues within the Regatta group with who you may not usually interact with.
